GATHERING TO WORSHIP GOD

We gather as a worshipping community each Sunday for a 9.30am service followed by morning tea and a time of fellowship.

Our congregation gathers as a community of all ages and cultures to Worship and to live out our faith together.  We gather together most importantly to worship God; to offer our praise and thanks and to bring in prayer our hurts and concerns.  We gather together to listen and await God’s call upon our lives.  We also gather to support one another as a community; to encourage, support and uphold one another in both worship and service.  We also gather to learn about the Bible and the church.

Our worship services have a set flow to them: call to worship, hymn of praise, confession and assurance of pardon, children’s time (we call this the Early Word), scripture readings and sermon, hymns and prayers for others before seeking God’s guidance as we leave to be God’s people in the world.  However, what happens within this pattern is extremely diverse. Ultimately, the only aim is to ensure that the worship service is praise-filled and meaningful for all who participate.

Children remain in the worship service and participate in activities set for them.  A data projector is utilised to assist everyone to participate in the worship service.

MINISTRY OF ALL BELIEVERS

Our congregation encourages all people to contribute their gifts, talents and time to the life of the church.  One way in which the ministry of all believers is supported is through the encouragement of lay leadership in worship.  Our minister leads 3 Sunday worship services per month and the remaining Sundays are led by members of the congregation.  Some lead the entire service whilst others share, each doing one particular part such as the reflection, early word or a prayer.

SPECIAL SERVICES

Special services are held at the various times throughout the year.  For example, on Easter morning we have a Dawn Service to celebrate the incoming light of Christ as the dawn breaks.  This service is held at Wallan Uniting Church, with whom we have a coactive arrangement.  Other special services include Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Holy Week services.  Times for these vary: see 'Upcoming Events' as the seasons approach.

MEDITATION

This is a time to experience quiet time to rest in God through personal prayer and reflection inspired by music.  Different styles of meditation are explored throughout the year.
